Dr. Matthew Sturm at the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Permafrost Tunnel points to some interesting ice features on the wall. The tunnel gives an amazing opportunity to see 12,000-year-old extinct bison bones in the soil where they were buried. Deeper in the tunnel researchers found live microbes which they believe were 25,000 years old. Inside the Permafrost Tunnel in Fox, Alaska.
