A couple of the hundreds of Northern fur seals (Callorhinus ursinus) and half dozen or so Steller sea lions (Eumetopias jubatus) that were sleeping like blobs on the beach below the Ryponkicha excavation site. The fur seals, dark brown-black in color, are about 2 meters (6-7 feet) in length, while the sea lions, lighter tan-brown with black, are just over 3 meters (10-12 feet) in length. These are most likely juvenile males so they have not yet reached their full-grown length or weight. Ryponkicha, Kuril Islands, Russia.
