Cara Pekarcik: "The dorsal (back) of the leopard seal is dark in color. This helps to camouflage the seal when hunting for prey deeper in the water column. The long foreflippers help the leopard seal make sharp turns in the water when chasing prey." Aboard the Nathaniel B. Palmer.
