The windbird device measures wind speed and direction. While meteorologists may call it an anemometer (the propeller part measuring wind speed) and wind vane (the fin that points it into the wind to indicate direction), sailors call it a windbird. Aboard the USCGC Healy icebreaker in the Arctic Ocean.
