The sonic anemometer, in the foreground, is able to measure three dimensional winds. Paired with sensors to measure carbon dioxide and water vapor, this device enables researchers to better understand how air moves near the surface of the ice, and how this impacts transport of heat, gases, and moisture. Neil Aellen assists with preparing the sonic anemometer. Near the R/V Akademik Fedorov in the Central Arctic Ocean.
