Kevin Dickerson: "A very large sponge on top of the Ross Ice Shelf. This is a very old animal which has become dislodged from the sea floor and floated up to the ice shelf. Over many years, it melted through the ice and ended up on top where we spotted it as we were flying towards Garwood Valley." Above the Ross Ice Shelf approaching Garwood Valley, Antarctica.
