Details

Graduate student Alexa Sterling prepares to close the lid on one of the deck board incubators. The neutral density screening (black screen door mesh) is placed on all sides of the incubator to reduce the light to simulate conditions around 10m (~30ft) below the surface of the water. Aboard the Nathaniel B. Palmer, docked in Punta Arenas, Chile.
