Details

The rigid-hull inflatable is beginning to be lowered into the sea. Note the smaller yellow cradle with the ropes leading up to the davit. This has rollers on it that guide the inflatable down to the sea along the Healy's hull. Also note the single strap connecting the inflatable to the cradle. The crew boards at the davit and as soon as the inflatable hits the water this single strap is unclipped and the boat immediately proceeds away from the ship. Aboard the USCGC Healy icebreaker in the Beaufort Sea.
