The BICEP cosmic microwave background telescope is housed in a canister that cools the equipment using liquid helium at about 4 Kelvin (4 degrees above absolute zero). This minimizes noise from random thermal energy. Randall Aikin gave Casey O'Hara the rundown of the program. Near the Amundsen-Scott South Pole Station, Antarctica.
