Sun dogs, like halos, are an atmospheric phenomenon caused by ice crystals in the air. The sun dogs are the bright spots directly on each side of the sun. Casey O'Hara blocks the sun out with his finger, to make the sun dogs more visible for the camera. Near the Amundsen-Scott South Pole Station, Antarctica.
