Jeff Peneston says, "I have never seen any other animal or bird that is so easy to photograph. Not only are they cute and beautiful, but Adélie penguins walk right up to us at almost every ice station. When I took this photo you could not see a penguin for miles around, except for the group that showed up and walked up to us after the science teams had been on the ice for a few hours." On the sea ice, near the icebreaker Oden.
