This 14 cm diameter sea ice core is one meter long but it is only the top part of a two meter core sample that was drilled from this ice floe. This part of the core is white because it did not contain the algae rich layer that the team was working to collect. The Swedish Ice Research Team is behind Jeff Peneston. Both teams work together to plan and share the data collection. On the sea ice, near the icebreaker Oden.
