Dr. Tish Yager (far left) and her graduate student, Kevin Bakker (seated center) train the group of volunteers who will make detailed observations of the weather and the types of sea ice they are passing through. Observations are made every six hours from the bridge. It is Jeff Peneston's responsibility to record conditions every evening at 9pm. Aboard the icebreaker Oden.
