Brett Heimlich adjusts the machine that he will use to measure the amount of carbon dioxide that is present in the samples of ice and sea water collected by the ice team. As a college junior, Brett offered to work in Dr. Yager’s lab and learned to master this complex and unusual instrument. Now, as a senior he was asked to join the expedition to Antarctica because of his skills and reputation for hard work. Aboard the icebreaker Oden.
