As summer comes to the Antarctic, the sea ice starts to break up. The largest slab of ice in this photo is about 15 meters across and it is called “cake ice”. It is surrounded by a slush called “brash ice”. You can see the tracks of a seal that crawled from one side to the other. Aboard the icebreaker Oden.
