Details

As part of the July 4th celebration, the whaling teams have skin boat races. Skin boats are the traditional whaling boats made of bearded seal skins. They are used during the spring whaling season. This photo shows the teams preparing for the beginning of the race, near the beach in Barrow, Alaska.
