Elke Bergholz pointing out a DOM, Digital Optical Module, a neutrino detector of the IceCube project at the South Pole Station. DOMs are placed on strings into holes up to 2500 meters deep into the ice. They are detecting neutrinos which help astrophysicists determine the expansion of the universe, among other things. Near the Dark Sector, about 1/2 a mile away from the Amundsen-Scott South Pole Station, Antarctica.
