Crack in the sea ice leading to the edge of Barne Glacier off of Mt. Erebus. The crack was filled with pyroclastic sediments blown out of Mt. Erebus (an active volcano). These heat up when the sun is out, causing the pitting in the sea ice and the uneven melting. Outside of Expedition Hut for R.F. Scott, Ross Island, Antarctica at the foot of Mt. Erebus.
