Tim Spuck: "I spent a great deal of time building giant voltage regulators. If the wind turbine were to spin too fast and produce a higher voltage than the instruments could handle, the voltage regulators kick in and dissipate the excess energy in the form of heat. The boxes are mounted on the outside of the AGO shelter so there is no risk of the regulator overheating in the frigid Antarctic air."
